Highlighted work:

Dr. Spiegel is involved in various Global Health Research projects on how critical processes of social determination affect health and wellbeing (e.g. projects on Food sovereignty and health equity in Ecuador and Canada. These research projects are done in collaboration with colleagues in Latin America who have for decades championed “Salud Colectiva” (Collective Health) as a paradigm that is gaining in popularity as “Social Medicine”. Other areas of his research include community-based dengue prevention and control in Ecuador, comprehensive primary health in Cuba, health of health workers in South Africa, and globalization and occupational health and safety. Dr. Spiegel also has a history of collaboration with the Peoples Health Movement.
